Black Adam, also known as Teth-Adam, is a powerful DC Comics character. His first appearance was in Fawcett's Family Marvel #1 (December 1945).

Originally, Black Adam was an ancient Egyptian predecessor to Captain Marvel (now Shazam). He was chosen by the wizard Shazam to be his champion, granting him incredible powers derived from Egyptian deities. However, Adam was corrupted by this power and used it for his own selfish goals.

This led to his imprisonment by Shazam. Upon his eventual escape, he became a recurring antagonist, often clashing with Shazam and other DC superheroes. His motives have varied over time, sometimes portraying him as a ruthless anti-hero fighting for his people and nation, Kahndaq.
